A large number of young people and children worldwide are playing video games.
Video games are more addictive to adolescents, teenagers and young people.
They either play games alone on a device or with other competitors who are remotely connected via the internet.
In both cases, the player spends more time alone with the device, which has a negative impact on his personality and social life.
Data from around the world show that high school and college students are more addicted to video games.
However, it is also a popular pastime for many working professionals.
In medical terminology, video game addiction is abbreviated as VGA and is defined as a distinct behavioural addiction.
VGA is Identified by excessive use of computer and video games, to the point where it interferes with the person's daily life.
VGA has a number of negative effects on a person's personal, professional, and social life.
When uncontrolled, it may lead to social withdrawal, restlessness, lack of sleep, fatigue along with other mental and physical negativities.
The effects can sometimes be severe enough to result in death.
There are positive sides of Video Games including 1) Life Skills 2) Education 3) Exercise 4) Better Brain Function 5) Job Skills and 6) Can Help to change Anxiety and Depression mindset.
There are negative sides of Video Games including 1) Violence 2) Addiction and 3) Replacement for Social Interaction which cause stress and consequently bring depression.
Addiction to video games is a serious issue that affects both youth and society as a whole.
Though the use of technology and its advancement are unavoidable, we always have the option to use it wisely.
