BRIEF ABOUT MYSELF
I have recently completed my doctoral research on Ocean Acidification
impacts on Echinoderms under the supervision of Dr. M. Anand, Department of
Marine and Coastal Studies, Madurai Kamaraj University, India.
Since 2016, I worked in two funded research projects namely Indo-New
Zealand Collaboration (INZEC) Project and ICAR-NICRA Project as well as team
based research work relevant to Ocean Acidification (OA) experiments on Marine
Echinoderms Salmacis virgulata (sea urchin), Goniodiscaster scaber (sea star), Phytoplankton
(Amphora subtropica) and Zooplankton
(Artemia franciscana) in microcosm
levels.
I have research experience in Marine Biogeochemistry including long term
monitoring of seawater carbonate parameters, and aragonite saturation state in
coral reef habitats (3 Island regions) in Gulf of Mannar, Southeast coast of
India. I have two years of experience
in seawater physicochemical parameter survey, large data collection, and
statistical analysis using AMOS modeling software. I also have experience in conducting ocean
acidification experiments on marine benthic invertebrates and worked in animal
collection, acclimatization, Toxicity studies, biomineralization, biomarker and
histopathology studies published in Cell Press journal Heliyon.
Along with this, I gained experience in fish catch data from national institute (CMFRI, India) database, assisted in research related to biology, food and feeding, length weight relationship and phylogenetic study of fishes in Gulf of Mannar region in India. I have proven skills in Instrumentations such as HPLC, Light microscopy, water quality methods, computer applications, documentations, project report writing and auditing, R - Programme Language seacarb package, CO2calc, CO2SYS, Mega10, Origin Professional graphing software, large data analysis using SPSS statistics, AMOS software, QGIS mapping, MS-Excel, Senior grade type writing and good communication in English (27 presentations in national and international conferences with Abstracts). From 2015 to 2020, I worked as volunteer and organizing member for Annual event INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP DAY programme conducted in Gulf of Mannar region. For this, we invited more than 200 volunteers in colleges around Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, India and we collected tonnes of marine debris and subjected it to data analysis.
*** RESEARCH KNOWLEDGE GAINED FROM INTERNATIONAL EXPERTS ***
I got knowledge of Marine
Chemistry and ocean acidification from different experts in this field.
Prof. Dr. Andrew Dickson from San Diego, California University, had come during January
2020 to India for delivering keynote lecture in International Capacity Building
Workshop on Ocean Acidification (ICBWOA-2020) in India. I clarified many doubts regarding the
standard measurement of total alkalinity with VINDTA 3C and pH measurements and
its accuracy. I also asked about the
standard reference materials preparation and worldwide distribution. It was my
wonderful opportunity to interact with the pioneers of seawater carbonate system
like Prof. Dickson, Richard Bellerby
(China) and Venkatesan Thiyagarajan (Hong Kong University).
Another opportunity to meet Dr. Mary A. Sewell from University of
Auckland, New Zealand happened in December 2015 when she came as research
collaborator to our DMCS laboratory - INDIA during International Conference on
Ocean Acidification Research (ICOAR -2015).
We shared the experience of microcosm low pH biological effects of sea
urchin compared between tropical and temperate countries.
Having gained the knowledge,
I followed to analyze and derive the biogeochemical parameters using standard
methods and CO2calc using two years of monthly field survey data in three
islands nearly getting high CO2 conditions in Gulf of Mannar,
India.
I seek job opportunity to take part in advanced research where I will
contribute on thrust areas of research in fullest strength and dedicatedly will do my best for extension activities
beyond research.
Thank you !!!
