K. RANGESH e-DIARY ON 18.02.2021
Today I woke up at 6:30 AM. I freshened up, brushed and took a cup of
tea. I did Vajrsana, Suryanamaskar and
Patchimothasana yoga for 30 minutes. I
bathed and ate breakfast (Idly with coconut chutney and sambar). Yesterday Anand sir told me to come faster
to MKU. Hence, I departed to MKU around
8:55 AM, then I said bye to mom, dad and two younger brothers. I listened MP3 songs such as ‘Pavithranaya
namaha, Pazhamuthircholai song, Ilayaraja songs,
etc’ via Bluetooth neckband.
I reached MKU by bike at 9:30 AM. I went
to MKU main office reception and took our school gate key. I
went to our school campus then I opened school gate. I went to our old room but there were many
stocks to be transferred to new room. I
called to Anand sir and asked where he was coming. Anand sir replied that he was coming near
Balaji printers (around 4 km away from MKU). Anand sir came around 9:45
AM then I wished him. I transferred some
of the things from old room such as ‘stationery items, books, journals, mirror, comb, dishwash bar, santoor hand wash,
etc’. I went to new room. Anand sir opened google meet room and waiting for presentation at external
college (conducted by Dr. Munis – Anand sir’s junior). I turned on bluettooth speaker (TG113) to
connect with Anand sir’s laptop. Anand
sir presented about ‘Marine ornamental fishes & its prices, importance
& Mumbai businessman’s success stories, etc’ since 09:40 AM. Meantime, I received a phone call from SBI-MKU
to receive RUSA project bank passbook, I asked the staff mam whether I have to
take photos of Anand sir to paste on passbook; she replied that Anand sir’s and
RUSA coordinator Dr. S. Chandrasekaran sir’s passport size photos to paste in
passbook and I have to bring photos to SBI-MKU bank by 11 AM. Anand sir was at presentation and I did not
disturb his presentation. I took
passport size photos of Anand sir from Anand sir’s black file. Chairperson Dr. Kannan sir came to our room
and urgently asked me to engage class for first year’s 1st semester SSS
students from other department who came for Marine Resource Management course from
10 AM to 12 PM because actual guest faculties Dr. M. Santhanakrishnan brother
and Dr. J. Wilson sir did not come earlier.
Hence, I went to upstair M.Sc class room and engaged class for SSS
students. Actually, SSS students were from many
departments but today only students from ERAC department (from School of remote
sensing / Geology) came for SSS classes.
Chairperson Kannan sir introduced myself to students and told that today
I would engage classes for SSS students.
Kannan sir added about my research, expertise, my Ph.D area, etc with my
introduction. Then Kannan sir left from
that room. I said good morning to all
students. I interacted the students with
self-introduction of themselves. They
one by one tell their name, past degrees & institution where they studied. Totally 12 members were attended my
class. Out of 12 students, 4 of them
from Tamil Nadu and remaining 8 of them from Kerala. I started the class with questions, ‘anyone
knows what is marine, what is research, what is teaching, research, &
extension in eductional aspects. Then I told
about my Ph.D research, Gulf of Mannar study area such as Musal, Manoli and Manoliputti
islands. I also asked about the climate
change, global warming, coral reefs, echinoderms, etc. Then every student has interacted with me
actively and I felt I was going with successful teaching strategy. Around 11 AM, Anand sir came to our room and
interacted with students about absence of guest faculties then asked their name
one by one. Anand sir left out the room. I continued my class with my study
research. I asked about the syllabus from
Kerala student, she showed me from her mobile.
It was GPS tools & its application.
I taught about QGIS & ArcGIS software tools then I conducted
activity-based teaching. I told all
students to search ‘list of mapping software’ in google. All were searched and told the list of GPS
& GIS tools. Many students asked questions
from me about coral reef, marine resource management, Gulf of Mannar, Rameswaram,
Tsunami, etc then I replied to them for clarifications. I gave a white sheet to write name & signature
